Frequently asked questions
Is there a free trial?
Yes — 7 days, no credit card required. The trial includes live stock quotes, the AI Strategist (15 ideas with a 30-min cooldown, long-call / long-put structures only) on 15 core tickers (SPY, QQQ, IWM, DIA, GLD, AAPL, NVDA, MSFT, GOOGL, AMZN, TSLA, META, AMD, NFLX, COIN), 5 watchlist tickers, 3 tracked plays, the trade journal, and the unusual flow scanner on a 15-minute delay. Upgrade to Pro ($149/mo) to unlock multi-leg strategies, dealer GEX, 3D vol surface, the live sub-second flow stream, and the backtester. Elite ($399/mo) adds the autonomous high-conviction scanner, The Floor, Ask OptionsDeck streaming chat, AI Debate, and webhooks.
Do I need to connect my brokerage?
No. OptionsDeck is a market-intelligence terminal. We generate ideas with exact entry, target, and stop — you place trades through your own broker. We never see your brokerage account, balances, or real-money trades. Your OptionsDeck journal only contains what you manually log.
What markets do you cover?
US equities and US options markets. We don't currently support futures, forex, crypto (we cover crypto-correlated names like COIN and MSTR via stocks/options), international markets, or fixed income.
Where does your market data come from?
OptionsDeck Direct Feed is our institutional-grade options + equity data infrastructure: full OPRA-direct options tape (sub-second latency), millisecond NBBO for aggressor classification, 5+ years of historical aggregates, real-time options snapshots with greeks. It's Tier-1 source data, not delayed retail feeds.
How fresh is the flow data?
Pro and Elite users get sub-second WebSocket-streamed unusual flow. Trial users see the same data on a 15-minute delay. Dealer GEX is recomputed every 30-180 seconds depending on cache state. Underlying spots are refreshed every 60-120 seconds during market hours via the hub.
Do you support 0DTE / weekly / monthly?
Yes to all. Filter by DTE in the AI Strategist preferences. GEX dashboard shows the front 8 expirations including 0DTE on index ETFs. Flow scanner picks up every print regardless of expiry.
How does the AI Strategist actually work?
Every AI generation receives 14 parallel signal channels: daily technicals (RSI/MACD/ATR/S+R/patterns), 1h intraday technicals, dealer GEX (regime + flip + walls + dealer positioning read), IV regime, 60-min flow posture aggregate, event proximity (earnings/CPI windows), macro vol regime (SPY IV rank + P/C ratio), sector context (sector ETF behavior), relative strength vs SPY (leader/laggard/rotational), sector rotation phase (risk-on / defensive / etc), 20 most-recent unusual flow ticks, news + sentiment analysis, short interest + squeeze risk classification, and your own account preferences. All gathered in parallel via asyncio.gather — no sequential bottleneck. The system prompt has 17 hard-coded rules that force the AI to reference dealer-positioning explicitly, anchor stops to real structure, honor event/regime context, and adjust confidence by cross-signal alignment. Confidence is independently computed — not the AI's guess. See /about for the full methodology.
Why does AI Strategist sometimes return 'no_trade'?
When the regime is unclear, we'd rather refuse than force a setup. If the directional classifier reads neutral with no high-conviction structure (compressed IV, no clear support, no aggressor signal in flow), the AI is instructed to return no_trade with an explanation. This is a feature, not a bug.
How is confidence calculated?
Not by the AI. We compute it after the fact from signal alignment across channels (chart, GEX, IV, flow, vol regime, sector, intraday). Higher when all channels agree, lower when they conflict. Trend-strength, MACD direction, IV-regime fit, and pattern flags all modulate the base. We add ±0.03 jitter so identical regimes don't always return identical scores.
Can the AI generate options ideas for any ticker?
Pro and Elite users: yes, any US-listed optionable ticker (200+ in the curated universe, technically any with a chain). Trial users: limited to 15 core tickers (SPY, QQQ, IWM, DIA, GLD, AAPL, NVDA, MSFT, GOOGL, AMZN, TSLA, META, AMD, NFLX, COIN) with a 30-minute cooldown between generations and a 15-idea lifetime cap.
What if I only allow long calls/puts? Do I miss most setups?
No — that was the old behavior. OptionsDeck's Strategy Reframer keeps the directional thesis but reformats every conviction idea into one of your preferred strategies. If the scanner picks a credit spread for a bullish setup and you only allow long calls, the same thesis renders as a long call with Greek-optimal strike + expiration. You see the full alpha, packaged for your style. The card shows a 'reframed from credit spread' tag so the AI's original pick stays transparent.
How does Sector Rotation work?
The /sectors page tracks the 11 SPDR sector ETFs (XLK, XLF, XLE, XLV, XLY, XLP, XLI, XLU, XLB, XLRE, XLC) — 1-day, 5-day, and 20-day returns plus relative strength vs SPY. OptionsDeck classifies the rotation phase: Risk On (cyclicals + growth leading), Defensive (utilities + staples + healthcare leading), Cyclical Narrow (value/energy without growth), or Rates-Led (real estate / financials standing out). The AI Strategist uses your ticker's sector standing to apply tailwind/headwind confidence adjustments to every idea.
What's the difference between Patch Notes and the changelog page?
Same thing — /changelog is our public patch notes. Every significant ship is documented there, color-coded by kind (feature / improvement / fix / security / speed). Linked from the sidebar footer with a pulsing accent dot to drive discovery.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes — open /account and click Manage subscription, which drops you into the Stripe-hosted billing portal. Two clicks total, no phone calls, no email loops. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, so you keep access until then.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes. 30-day money-back guarantee on your first paid charge — email support@optionsdeck.ai and we'll refund in full, no questions asked. After 30 days we pro-rate refunds for the unused portion of the current cycle at our discretion.
What payment methods do you accept?
Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, Discover) via Stripe. We're working on adding ACH and crypto for higher-volume users. No PayPal currently.
Can I switch plans mid-cycle?
Yes. Upgrading takes effect immediately and you're charged the pro-rated difference. Downgrading takes effect at the next renewal so you keep the higher-tier features until then.
Is OptionsDeck giving me financial advice?
No. OptionsDeck is an informational platform. We are not a broker-dealer, not a registered investment adviser, and have no fiduciary duty to you. Every output is for informational purposes only. You must do your own analysis before placing any trade. See the full Legal Disclaimer.
What if I lose money using OptionsDeck?
Trading losses are your responsibility. Options involve substantial risk — you can lose your entire investment and, with certain undefined-risk strategies, more than your initial investment. OptionsDeck is not liable for your trading results. Read Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options (the OCC's ODD) before trading options.
How do you store my password?
Bcrypt-hashed at rest. We cannot read your password — even our own engineers can't. If you forget it, the recovery flow at /forgot-password resets it via email link; we never email passwords.
Do you have access to my brokerage account?
No — and we never will. OptionsDeck has zero broker integration. Your trades happen at your broker, your funds are at your broker, your real positions are at your broker. OptionsDeck only sees what you choose to log in your journal.
Where is my data stored?
On secure, managed cloud infrastructure with encrypted backups. All traffic is HTTPS-only with HSTS, and Stripe handles all payment data — we never see your full card number. See the Security page for our full security posture.
What's High Conviction?
Our autonomous AI scanner that sweeps 80+ popular tickers every 20 minutes during market hours and surfaces only setups where the classifier reads strong AND the AI returns confidence >=75%. Elite-only. Very-high-conviction setups (confidence >=85%) trigger in-app notifications + Discord/Slack webhook fanout if you've configured one.
What's The Floor?
The live operator wall — every Elite user's AI-generated ideas, anonymized by opt-in display handle. Sort by win-rate, copy any setup to your own tracked plays with one click. Includes the live leaderboard ranked by win-rate × log(trade_count) so sample size matters.
Does the dealer GEX show I:VIX?
No — our market-data plan covers equity options, not Cboe indices like I:VIX. We use SPY's own IV rank (which closely tracks VIX) as the macro vol-regime signal. For dealer GEX itself, we compute on the actual SPX/SPY/NDX/QQQ/IWM options chains.
What if I'm new to options?
Start with the Academy at /start — it's a five-session walkthrough (~50 min total) that calibrates the AI, generates your first idea, reads dealer gamma, paper-trades a structure, and sets up your journal. After that, the /learn hub is the encyclopedia: strategy guides, Greek deep-dives, IV explainers. OptionsDeck is geared toward active traders who already understand strategies, Greeks, and IV — it's not a teaching tool, but the Academy + /learn cover everything you need before going live.
Is there a quick-start guide?
Yes — the /start Academy is a structured 5-day curriculum for new operators. Day 1: calibrate preferences. Day 2: generate + track your first AI idea. Day 3: read the dealer-gamma map. Day 4: paper trade a structure. Day 5: build a journal + check risk daily. Each session is 5-15 minutes. Reachable from the sidebar footer, the onboarding modal's 'Skip to Academy' link, the footer of every public page, and Settings → Help & resources.
